July Gardening Tips

– Place conservatory plants outside now that it is warm
– Water tubs and new plants if dry – water plants early in the
morning so the foliage can dry off before the summer sun
sets in or when sun has gone down
– Deadhead bedding plants and repeat-flowering perennials
to ensure continuous flowering
– Clear algae, blanket weeds and debris from ponds and keep
them topped up
– Give the lawn a summer feed
– Give woodwork a lick of paint or preserver while the weather
is dry
– Scatter super-phosphates around the base of Azaleas,
Laurels, Rhododendrons and Pieris to promote heavy flower
bud formation
– Fertilise bedding plants for a good boost of bloom on into
autumn
